Yoga Can Boost Health For A Breast Cancer Woman

A new study recently revealed that special Yoga classes could improve the overall well being of breast cancer patients, thus initiating faster recovery. A study by Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York has said that Yoga tremendously helped giving boost to women who were receiving treatment for breast cancer. This was particularly effective in those women who were not taking chemotherapy.

The women who participated in the study reportedly enjoyed the whole experience and it helped them come over the trauma of cancer in a positive way. It was well received by the patients and proved to be very helpful. The study was conducted on a group of 128 women who belonged to the low-income category. The classes were conducted thrice a week and those who participated were taught simple exercises to be done at home also. The exercises were based on Hatha-Yoga and were specially designed for women who came for treatment of breast cancer.

The exercises were taught while the patients were either sitting on a chair or were lying down. It was clearly found that the women experienced calm mind and had significant improvement in their general quality of life. Their distress was greatly reduced and their emotional, spiritual and social well-being improved for the better. It was added that the exercises were to be performed only under experts’ supervision and the patients interested in Yoga should contact their doctors first.
