Hair Coloring at home

Hair coloring is a popular fashion these days. While it helps to cover our grey hair, it also projects our personality. Hair coloring is actually an ancient practice and ancient Romans and Greeks have been known to have colored their hair too.

With different hair dyes being easily available in the market today, you can also color your hair at home. Some of the brands that are widely available are
  • L' Oreal Hair Color
  • Clairol Hair Color
  • Revlon Hair Color
  • Garnier Hair Color
  • Wella Hair Color
  • Godrej Hair Color

Before selecting a color for your hair or a brand, you need to be careful about certain things. Make sure your skin is not sensitive to any ingredient used in the hair dye.

Also, you need to select a hair color that matches your complexion. For this, it is best to take the help of a hairdresser in a beauty parlor or salon to color your hair. Some of the popular hair colors used by today's consumers are:

  • Magenta
  • Burgundy
  • Black
  • Light Brown
  • Copper

How to Color your Hair:Coloring your hair is not a very difficult task. With these simple tips you can color your hair at home:

  • Shampoo your hair.
  • Mix the contents of the hair dye in a glass or porcelain dish.
  • Use the applicator or spatula to apply the dye on your hair.
  • Wait for 30 minutes to allow the dye to set in.
  • Rinse your hair thoroughly.
  • Later, shampoo your hair and use a hair conditioner after that.

Note: Make sure that the color does not come in contact with your eyes. If it does and you experience a burning sensation then wash off with plenty of water.

Some chemicals used in hair colors can adversely affect your health. So make sure that the hair dye you use does not contain lead acetate or any chemical which you are allergic too. Also, frequent use of chemical hair dyes may cause breakage and loss of hair. In such cases, natural hair dyes, like henna, can be a better choice.
